Our Next Work Date will be:
Saturday, Dec 13, 2008
We will be working at The Jesse Buell Forest Wildflower Meadow again moving small pine and cedar trees from the lower meadow to the upper meadow. This will involve digging out the trees, wrapping the rootballs in burlap, transporting them to the upper meadow and planting them in new holes.
They will all have to be watered after transplanting, so water will have to be carried up the hill from the pond in buckets to facilitate this. It could be a pretty labor intensive operation.
If the ground is frozen and we can't do any digging, we will do some trail work to cut back vegetation that is crowding the trails a bit.
Please bring pointed shovels for digging, safety glasses, gloves, loppers, hand saws and hand pruners. I won't be there so Gregg Mirando and Peter Finch will be running the show.
WHEN : From 8:00 AM until 10:00Am
WHERE: Jesse Buell Forest
Directions: Cream Pot Road about 1/4 mile up the road on the right.
All volunteers are welcome. fbyrne@snet.net
